TRADITIONAL WITH A TWIST

The homeowner was in need of updating their 1979 kitchen. The home is a standard Naperville colonial with medium wood doors, crown molding and trim. The kitchen and front entry had 12×12 ceramic tile that needed to be replaced and a front staircase in need of repair. The result is a 2012 NIHBA Gold Award for design! We replaced the tile with hardwood throughout first level, and addressed the front staircase. The homeowners disagreed on the color of the kitchen – stain or paint – so they compromised with both. The large eat in space has a painted built in hutch and the color is echoed in the work area of the kitchen with a painted hood. The remaining cabinetry carries the warm wood tones of the rest of the home. The entire kitchen is accented with handmade tile, under and in cabinet lighting and beautiful granite with a roman edge.
