Project Description

This large kitchen began with builder grade oak cabinetry that stopped short of the ceiling height.  There was an existing island with white laminate tops.  We made the cabinetry in the room more substantial by taking it all the way to the ceiling and added beautiful crown molding.  Where the beverage/serving area is located in the corner adjacent to both the dining room and family room, there was an underutilized built in desk.  What is unique in this remodel is the contrasting cabinetry.  Not only does it contrast in color, it contrasts in wood style.  The perimeter cabinetry is painted maple wood in Dove White, a very smooth finish.  Conversely, the island and stained base cabinetry is knotty alder wood; a more rustic look.  The knotty alder is finished in a warm toned caramel stain.
