Amish custom cabinetry all around the kitchen melt into the wood look floor tile in the same soft grey tones. The island is a slightly deeper grey and is finished in an artistic brush stroke and glaze. The counters are all Vicostone quartz in polished Argento.

The homeowner requested an island to replace her peninsula. Because of the depth of the kitchen, it was necessary to create a custom slenderized island for the space. Although there is no seating at the island, it's winning attributes are storage and a great work space/ serving area.

Excellent storage is provided with floor to ceiling pantry cabinets, complete with rollout shelves and vertical dividers. The oven and refrigerator are poised perfectly to utilize the island for loading and unloading food and grocery.

Not only is the cooking area gorgeous, it's efficient too. The tile back splash is a larger scale subway tile by Daltile in Artigiano/Italian Alps. The focal point tile is a tufted harlequin. The roll outs below the cook top are perfect storage for hot pads and cooking gear. The back splash tile rises to the ceiling behind the stainless steel chimney style hood for a stylish effect.

Additional efficiency stars in this kitchen are the rollouts. We have a utensil rollout with built in caddies, a garbage roll out and a spice cabinet next to the cooktop. A lot of bells and whistles behind these cabinets!

The soft grey palette used in this kitchen were chosen for the neutral, cozy atmosphere they provide, no matter what the season. The kitchen’s sight lines were opened up by eliminating a peninsula and hanging cabinets that cut off the eating area from the working part of the space. We added a custom, slenderized, island to fit the kitchen’s depth, as additional workspace and serving area. We also added a classic heavy wall to accommodate lots of storage and organization; far more than the peninsula and overhead cabinets offered.
