The view of the kitchen from the home's entrance opens up with a lot of natural light from the huge window over the sink. The cabinetry is birch wood with a custom stain of a combination of brown and grey.

Adjacent to the dining room is a serving area that doubles as a bar. All counters in the kitchen are topped with Bianco Gioia Colorquartz.

A view from the family room. Here you can see the sight lines have been opened up nearly all the way to the dining room. The shiplap is visible as it meets the header separating the family room from kitchen. Originally a wall existed between the two spaces, as well as another wall running perpendicular to the peninsula creating a long dark hallway.

Beams, ship lap, and Mirage's Papyrus engineered hardwood floors in Old Maple. The built in bookcase behind the sofa replaced an oak version. But even before either bookcase resided there, it was a door to the garage.

This project began with opening up the floor plan of this roomy home. The kitchen was closed off from the adjacent spaces so a more open sight line was desired into the family room. The dining room remains separate, however a long hallway was eliminated and walls were removed which makes this roomy home feel even more expansive. In conjunction with the kitchen remodel, the family room fireplace area was updated along with a laundry room and powder room on the first level. The family room ceiling had existing ceiling beams that were painted and ship lap was positioned between the beams for interest. New engineered hardwood floors were installed throughout the first floor, with the exception of the laundry and powder rooms where tile was chosen.
